Shoes as far as the eye can see! |
I walked over a long bridge with four enormous animal statues at each post, passing trendy cafes and old churches, trying to take in the people and the qualities that make up the city of Oslo. I found a cobblestone courtyard near the outdoor mall with a rundown fountain in the middle and a couple street vendors selling Justin Bieber paraphernalia. I took this as strange until I was later told that he was playing in concert just a block away.
When I'm a mom, my goal is to be as stylish and elegant as the women are in Norway. Mother after mother strutted passed me with minimalist black strollers, active toddlers, tailored jackets and leather ankle boots. I can only hope that I will look so put together.
The audience in Norway sang their lungs out for this performance and it sounded pretty good for a huge mass of people. When they called the band on for their encore, instead of chanting " We want more" or "One more song" they chose to sing, in unison, the "oh's" from "On Top of the world." I had never heard that before and it was very moving.
