While the band traveled to Korea last week, baby and I traveled to an equally exotic place: Salt Lake City, Utah. My parents and sister were already going there to meet up with my other siblings so we decided to crash the party and get in some family love.
I was sick to my stomach nervous leading up to the trip because it was River's first flight and if things went sour, it was all on me to handle it. But thank heavens, this kid is a rockstar and didn't make a peep. In fact, he smiled through most the flight. I wore him in the wrap almost the whole time and pushed our luggage around in the stroller. It was a really efficient way to travel with the little.
We took a 40 minute train from the airport to downtown and then walked three blocks to our hotel. River was so entertained by the fascinating scenery that he didn't even get fussy when he was hungry or sleepy.
We had lunch at Lamb's Grill, a restaurant where the food is mediocre but the ambiance is a hoot. I swear it looked like where the mafia would have someone whacked in the '50s.
"Leave the gun, take the cannoli."
Once we were all together, we walked around City Creek and Temple Square. It was so amazing to see my family and catch up on their lives. Plus, if I am being truly honest, it was divine to have 6 extra sets of hands to help throughout the day. Can they all come with me everywhere??
